Erik Rousi

Finnish bass ERIK ROUSI is known for his powerful and warm voice, with his repertoire ranging from Baroque opuses to the great German operas.

His roles in the 2023/24 season include Sir John Falstaff in Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Peter in Smyth’s Der Wald, König Marke in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, and Hunding in Wagner’s Die Walküre.
Rousi’s operatic repertoire includes Rocco in Beethoven’s Fidelio, Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Melisso in Alcina, Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Commendatore in Don Giovanni, Il Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Kaspar in Carl Maria von Weber’s Der Freischütz, Amfortas in Wagner’s Parsifal, Wanderer in Siegfried, Wotan in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre, among many other roles.

Erik Rousi also performs as a chamber musician focusing on Schubert’s great cycles, which he has performed on numerous occasions all around Europe. By 2026, the leading Finnish label Alba Records is set to publish all the major song cycles of Schubert, recorded by Erik Rousi and his longtime pianist partner Justas Stasevskij. The first of the CDs, Die schöne Müllerin, was released in March 2023 to great critical acclaim.
