Jānis Apeinis

Latvian baritone Jānis Apeinis graduated from the Vocal dept. of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (2002) and received his Master degree in 2004. He studied with Prof. Arvīds Imants Luste and Margarita Gruzdeva.

Jānis Apeinis made his debut at the Latvian National Opera in 2003.

His repertoire includes Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Escamillo (Carmen), Valentin (Faust), Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Count Luna (Il Trovatore), Lescaut (Manon Lescaut), Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Enrico Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor), Don Giovani (Dons Giovani), Scarpia (Tosca), Marcello (La Boheme), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) and others.

Janis Apeinis is a laureate of the annual Latvijas Gāze Award as the Best Opera Soloist of the Year (2008, 2011, 2012). He received Staburadze Ltd. scholarship at the Jāzeps Vītols 2nd International Vocal Competition, scholarship holder of Eniro Ltd. and the Creative Foundation (2003). Jānis Apeinis is Prize winner of the 3rd International Jāzeps Vītols Vocal Competition (2004).

He can be heard at the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St. Petersburg, Russia) as Onegin. In 2013 this performance was awarded with
