Raimonds Petrauskis

Raimonds PETRAUSKIS is a pianist, teacher at Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music School, where he is also the Head of Jazz and Popular Music Department. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, class of prof. Juris Kalnciems. He also attended classes at Hamburg University of Music and Theatre with prof. Volker Banfield and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with prof. Ronan O’Hora and jazz piano prof. Simon Purcell.

Petrauskis has reaped awards in numerous international competitions, including the first place in Nikolai Rubinstein Competition in Paris, third place in Val Tidone International Piano Competition in Milan, and third place in Jāzeps Vītols Piano Competition.

Raimonds has performed with Latvia’s top orchestras and has toured Europe in duet with his brother, saxophone player Oskars Petrauskis.
