Alexei Bahir

Violinist Alexei BAHIR has been the assistant principal first violin of the LNSO since 2017. Before joining the LNSO, he was a member of the chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga for ten years.

Alexei studied the violin at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, earning his master’s in 2019. He also attended Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen (Germany). He has participated in masterclasses in Austria, Sweden, and Israel, and performed in concert in France, the UK, Norway, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore with the chamber orchestra Neue Philharmonie Köln.

In addition to classical music, Alexei is interested in jazz and improvisation. He participated in the recording of Strings Attached with jazz saxophonist Dāvis Jurka, as well as other projects.
