Described by The Times as a musician of ‘eye-popping virtuosity’, Latvian violinist Kristīne BALANAS is one of the fastest rising talents on the international scene and was recently recognised as Young Artist of the Year in the prestigious Grand Music Awards of her home country.

The 2018–19 season sees her make debuts with Das Sinfonie Orchester Berlin in the Berliner Philharmonie, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Jerusalem Israel, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra on a nationwide tour; return to the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra; and appear in recitals across Germany, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Greece, France – at the Festival Radio France Occitaine Montpellier alongside her cellist sister – and the UK, where she is artist in residence at this summer’s Presteigne Festival.

Kristīne has appeared as a soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris (directing from the violin), European Union Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Soloists under Yuri Bashmet, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Polish Chamber Philharmonic, Sinfonietta Rīga, amongst others, under conductors including Ainārs Rubiķis, Rory MacDonald and Gad Kadosh.
