Paula Šūmane is a performing violinist, laureate of numerous international competitions, winner of Latvia’s Grand Music Award 2011 for Debut of the Year. She has performed the solo with the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon, Baden Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, Hofer Symphoniker, Klaipeda National Theatre orchestra, Liepāja SO, LNSO, Sinfonietta Rīga etc. Paula Šūmane frequently performs as a chamber musician; she receives frequent invitations to perform as a guest concertmaster. Paula has collaborated as a soloist and concertmaster with Daniel Raiskin, Pinchas Steinberg, Simone Young, Antonio Méndez, Lawrence Foster, Eiji Oue, Andris Poga, Normunds Šnē and many others.

Paula graduated with distinction from two music universities – National Superior Conservatory of Paris for Music and Dance and Graz University of Arts, where whe studied with Yair Kless and Boris Garlitsky. Formerly, Paula Šūmane studied with Uldis Viesturs Sprūdžs, Ojārs Kalniņš, Haviva Dimenstein, Ludmila Girska, Gaļina Akuļiča, and Anete Zvaigzne.
