Pēteris Trasuns is the assistant principal viola of the LNSO since 2018. Member of the Quadra Piano Quartet. Winner of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and LMT annual award for new musicians. Laureate of chamber ensemble competitions in Latvia and Estonia.

Pēteris Trasuns has had the honour to be the first performer of chamber music and compositions for viola written by Asia Ahmetjanova, Evija Skuķe, Armandas Aleksandravičius, Anna Ķirse, Oskars Herliņš, Imants Zemzaris and other Latvian composers. He has collaborated with foreign composers Catherine Robson, Ben Lunn, Kristupas Bubnelis and Hannes Dufek, participating in the first performances of their works. Trasuns performed in the concert show The Sketch Books of Dagda in honour of the anniversary of Latvian poet Rainis.

Violist at the Sinfonietta Rīga Chamber Orchestra from 2014 to 2018. Has performed as a soloist together with the LNSO, Sinfonia Concertante, the JVLMA Symphony Orchestra, Emīls Dārziņš Music School Symphony Orchestra and State Choir Latvija. Participates in the Madona Latvian Music Festival every year. Has taken part in the festivals  Arēna,  DeciBels,  Sansusī, and Skaņu mežs.

 

Performed at the Kremerata Baltica festival together with Gidon Kremer and Georgijs Osokins.

Pēteris Trasuns graduated from the Emīls Dārziņš Music School (2012) and received his master’s degree at the JVLMA (2018), where he studied in the class of Ināra Brīnuma.
