The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) informs listeners of a change of soloist in the concert on February 13, “LNSO, Olari Elts and Kristīne Blaumane. Vasks’ Cello Concerto and Sibelius’ Fifth”, which will take place at the Riga Congress Hall.

Due to health complications affecting LNSO’s artist-in-residence, cellist Kristīne Blaumane, a chamber music concert scheduled for December 2025 was cancelled. Fortunately, her recovery is progressing well; however, excessive physical strain could be detrimental. Therefore, it has been agreed that at the February 13 concert, in the performance of Pēteris Vasks’ First Cello Concerto conducted by Olari Elts, the soloist will be another like-minded musical colleague of ours, cellist Kristaps Bergs.

We wish Kristīne a smooth recovery and look forward with anticipation to the concert on April 30!

Information for ticket holders: if you choose not to attend the concert due to the change of soloist, you may return your purchased ticket until the start of the concert:

  • in person at the Biļešu Paradīze box office at Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street 5 (Riga Congress Hall),

  • or by sending the ticket to the email address info@bilesuparadize.lv, indicating that you wish to return the ticket due to the change of soloist.

Thank you for your understanding! We look forward to seeing you at this and other LNSO concerts!

About the program: after a longer break, the orchestra’s former Artistic Director and Chief Conductor (2001–2006), Olari Elts, will reunite with the LNSO. With Kristaps Bergs as soloist, Pēteris Vasks’ First Cello Concerto will be performed, in which the composer, across five movements, reflects the individual’s resistance to brutal power. Meanwhile, Jean Sibelius’ most famous work—the Fifth Symphony—was composed amid the crosscurrents of musical change in the 20th century. These explorations are reflected in the sound world of the outstanding Finnish composer, which nevertheless remains consistently rich and full. The program also includes tributes to Sibelius by the Estonian composer Tüür and the Scottish composer Musgrave.

Tickets for concerts are available at Biļešu Paradīze ticket outlets and atwww.bilesuparadize.lv.
