Ēriks Kiršfelds is the principal cellist in the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. For many years he has been the principal cellist in Kremerata Baltica since the foundation of the orchestra. Ēriks is a docent at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. He has won the highest music award in Latvia The Grand Music Award 2009 for outstanding ensemble work.

A zealous soloist and chamber musician, Ēriks Kiršfelds has recorded plenty of music at Latvian Radio. He is a member of Spīķeru String Quartet. Collaborating with the German record label Wergo they have recorded all of Peteris Vask’s string quartets in two CDs, praised by critics.

Ēriks studied at Emīls Dārziņš Music School and Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. He continued his education at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and graduated from Basel Music Academy.
