Singer Gunta GELGOTE studied vocal arts at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.

Gunta’s current residence is Vilnius – she is a frequent guest soloist at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, and at the Vilnius State Opera, where Gintaras Rinkevičius serves as the artistic director. Recent seasons have seen Gunta’s debut in the role of Adele (Die Fledermaus) in Vilnius and in Kristaps Pētersons’ opera Mikhail and Mikhail Play Chess, Bruno Skulte’s The Werewolves’ Heiress and other productions in Riga. Gunta collaborates with several orchestras as a solo performer. Chamber music projects with Kristīne Adamaite and Artis Sīmanis, Herta Hansena, Aldis Liepiņš, Ēriks Kiršfelds, and Aija Kuzmane. Frequent participant in performances of contemporary music; several new works have been written specifically for Gunta. Laureate of Latvia’s Grand Music Award for Debut of the Year 2009.
