Guntis Kuzma
GUNTIS KUZMA is the chief conductor and artistic director of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra since the 2022/2023 season. From 2014 to 2022, he conducted the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, he led concerts of the chamber orchestra Accademia Baltica. As a soloist and conductor, he frequently collaborates with other orchestras, including Sinfonietta Rīga and Sinfonia concertante.
He was the principal clarinetist of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra from 2008 to 2014. From the establishment of Sinfonietta Rīga in 2006 until 2015, he served as the orchestra's first clarinet. Currently, Guntis Kuzma is also the head of the Woodwind Department and an associate professor at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

He has performed in the USA, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany, and Sweden. He has contributed to numerous Latvian Radio archive recordings. In 2022, Guntis Kuzma released a solo album in collaboration with pianist Agnese Egliņa.
In January 2018, Guntis Kuzma and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra received high acclaim for their interpretation of Ādolfs Skulte's Symphony no. 5 at the Grand Concert of Latvian Symphonic Music. For this performance, as well as for his interpretation of Sebastian Fagerlund's Clarinet Concerto with Sinfonietta Rīga and conductor Normunds Šnē, Kuzma received the Latvian Grand Music Award 2018 for Outstanding Interpretation. Also in 2018, the technically demanding work Dialogue de l’ombre double for clarinet and electronics by Pierre Boulez had its Latvian and Georgian premieres performed by Kuzma.
