Kim Criswell is a world-renowned musical singer. She made her Broadway debut in 1981 in Robert Brush’s musical The First.

Kim Criswell has participated in numerous musical productions and performed as a solo artist with leading American orchestras. Criswell received the Helen Hayes award for her performance of Sondheim’s musical revue Side By Side By Sondheim at the Olney Theatre in Washington in 1989. Criswell created her one-woman show Doin What Comes Naturally at the London Shaw Theatre in September, 1991. She has been living in London since 1992, deciding to relocate after the invitation to sing the title role in Irving Berlin’s musical Annie Get Your Gun.

In August, 2009, Kim Criswell participated in the BBC Proms summer festival with the concert programme Celebration of Classic MGM Film Musicals at the Royal Albert Hall, performing songs first made popular by Judy Garland. In October the same year she performed the Broadway to West End gala programme in the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. In August, 2010, the singer successfully returned to the BBC Proms, performing in the Rodgers and Hammerstein evening with the John Wilson Orchestra and outstanding opera singer Rodney Gilfry at the Royal Albert Hall. In January, 2012, Kim Criswell participated in the production of Bernstein’s comic operetta Candide at the Vienna Volksoper.

In 2002, Criswell sang the role of Ruth in the concert performance of Bernstein’s musical Wonderful Town in the Berliner Philharmoniker’s traditional New Years’ Eve concert with Audra McDonald and Thomas Hampson under the baton of Simon Rattle. Kim Criswell also recorded this musical on CD with a similar group of soloists and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group conducted by Simon Rattle.

Kim Criswell’s previous visit to Latvia was in December, 2014, when she sang the role of Ruth in the LNSO New Year’s Eve Concert under Andris Poga.
