SILJA AALTO

Finnish soprano SILJA AALTO is a Grand Prize winner of the Metropolitan Vocal Competition and a winner of Lyra New York International Vocal Competition, she won 2nd prize in the Elizabeth Connell Prize international opera competition in September 2017 in Sydney, Australia, and is also the winner of Toivo Kuula singing competition in Finland.

Last season, she made her debut as Leonora in Estonia Theatre’s new production of Verdi’s Il Trovatore, with her other roles including, among others, Leonore (Beethoven's Fidelio), Mimi (Puccini's La Bohème), Countess (Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro), Sieglinde (Wagner's Die Walküre).

Her future engagements include a role debut as Elsa (Wagner's Lohengrin) in Estonian National Opera, performing Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra and Verdi's Requiem with the Finnish National Opera.

Silja Aalto graduated from the Sibelius Academy Opera Master programme. Her studies were backed by several cultural support associations, such as the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Finnish Wagner Society.
